Irish Water and Mayo County Council are carrying out repairs to a burst watermain on Emmet Street, Ballina to restore water supply to approximately 300 properties in Emmet Street, Bridge Street, Pearse Street, Bachelor’s Walk, Arbuckle Row, Castlecourt, Beleek Lodge, Dillon Terrace, Nally Street, Humbert Street, Belleekand the surrounding areas. Repairs are expected to be completed by 4pm today and it may take two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by the burst.

Irish Water has announced details of a €1.2 million upgrade to wastewater services in two areas of Mayo. A contract has been awarded to TES Ltd to upgrade the existing wastewater treatment plants in Belcarra and Lahardaun which serve a combined population of almost 1,000 people. Daily sampling at the source, at the treatment plant and on the network since the boil water notice was issued did not identify any presence of cryptosporidium.
